Undergraduate Students
You can apply as an undergraduate to East Carolina University through the ECU Undergraduate Admissions website:
You need to create an account, fill out the online form, and upload the relevant documents.
If you are current ECU undergraduate student, who wants to take Security Studies as a Major, please contact the Program Director or another advisor.
Postgraduate Students
You can apply for the Certificate in Security Studies and the MS in Security Studies any time of the year, but your complete application should be submitted at least one month before the intended start term. Your application should include the following elements:
- Application fee
- A completed online application form
- Official transcripts of your undergraduate degree
- A resume
- A statement of purpose
- Three letters of reference (two letters for the Certificate)

Graduate School
Click here to Apply to the MSSS or Certificate Program.
Click on the APPLY button on the right hand side and create a Login Account. When you are finished with the online form and when you have uploaded your documents you have to pay an application fee. Otherwise your application will not be processed.
Your application will be forwarded by the Graduate School to the Security Studies faculty for review. You should hear back from the Graduate School within a few weeks after submission of the application. The Graduate School will advise you about the next steps that you need to take to start the program.
